Utility player Cody Reimer played seven different positions this season, helping the Bobcats to a 25-14 record. As a pitcher, Reimer went 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA and 62 strikeouts.

Sophomore catcher Bella Berthel of Bellevue Marquette is the TH Athlete of the Week. Berthel received first team all-Big East honors, throwing out 10 of 16 runners who attempted to steal on her, including 5-for-5 in conference play.

July 11, 2013 - Dylan Preston

Clayton Ridge / Central

Dylan Preston is currently the Class 2A leader in RBIs with 51, and has a batting average of .583, leading the Clayton Ridge/Central WarEagles baseball team to their first-ever 20-win season.

Trent Bollman, a Maquoketa junior baseball player, is in his second year as the Cardinals' starting shortstop and batting .397 in the leadoff position.

June 27, 2013 - Jordan Albrecht

Jordan Albrecht, a senior at Hempstead, was 13-for-24 at the plate with two doubles, five RBIs, and six runs scored last week. In the Mustangs' 25 games so far this season, Albrecht has gone 37-for-84 with eight doubles and a home run.

June 20, 2013 - Joey Lehmann

Joey Lehmann, pitcher from Dyersville Beckman, has not lost a game in the past two years as pitcher for the Trailblazers as his win streak has grown to 15 games. During this season's 38 innings pitched, Lehmann has 43 strikeouts and just 12 walks, with an ERA of 0.18.

June 13, 2013 - Zach Hentrich

Zach Hentrich, a Lancaster junior, was named the Southwest Wisconsin Conference player of the year after concluding the golf season at the state meet with a seventh place individual finish, while leading the Arrow to a runner-up team trophy.

June 6, 2013 - Kate Coyle

Kate Coyle concluded her junior golf season with a runner-up finish at the Iowa Class 3A state meet last week. The three time state qualifier had her best season yet, placing no worse than fifth at any meet she competed in, medaling in seven of the 10 meets Cascade participated in.

May 30, 2013 - Nathan Wallenhorst

Cuba City
Nathan Wallenhorst, the team's pitching ace, played a vital role in this year's baseball title, the school's first since 2003. Wallenhorst finished conference play with an ERA of 0.79.

May 23, 2013 - Katie Droeszler

In the final week of her softball season, Katie Droeszler went 9-for-11 with two doubles, two triples, and a home run. Katie owns 18 school records, including seven that she broke this season.

Dubuque Senior Rams junior Jordyn Engelken placed first overall with a total score of 88-81-169 and was named the Mississippi Division Athlete of the Year at the Mississippi Valley Conference girls golf meet at Ellis Golf Course in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Dubuque Hempstead sprinter Matt Zenner played an integral part in the Mustangs' city track and field title last Tuesday at Dalzell Field. The sophomore took first place in the 100, 200 and 400, while anchoring a come-from-behind win in the 4x100 relay.

Tyler Donovan of Western Dubuque High School brought home a fifth place finish at the extremely competitive Drake Relays in the 110 high hurdle race this past weekend. He is also one of the area's elite hurdlers, competing in the 400 low, 110 high and shuttle hurdle relay.

Through the Mohawks' first six games, Lawrence, a junior, has scored seven times. Lawrence, who attends Bellevue High School and plays left forward for the Mohawks.

Taylor Bickford, Maquoketa soccer player, scored a hat trick during Friday's game against Western Dubuque. The junior is in her third year as a starting center forward for the Cardinals.

Kourtney Larson, East Dubuque pitcher, has had a solid start for the Warriors, throwing a two-hitter against Galena last Thursday and striking out 17 in a doubleheader with River Ridge/Scales Mound on Tuesday as East Dubuque improved to 3-0.

The two winners this week came from the Wahlert boys and girls bowling team.  A.J Gregory and Jessie Bahl of Dubuque Wahlert played crucial roles during last week's boys and girls team title sweep.

Josh Weeber, a repeat winner of TH Athlete of the Week, helped lead the Senior Rams to a third place finish in the Iowa Class 4A state tournament.

A reverse layup with one second remaining sent the Dubuque Senior Rams back to the Iowa Class 4A state tournament, that layup also earned Lucas LeGrand the Telegraph Herald Athlete of the Week honor this week!

February 28, 2013 - Jason Derby

Jason Derby, a Cuba City senior, leads the undefeated and top-ranked Cubans with 15.6 points per game. In last weekend's regional final win, Derby burst for a career-high 29 points. He garnered a record breaking 2,876 votes to become this week's athlete of the week!

February 21, 2013 - Austin Gehl

Cascade's Austin Gehl, a senior point guard, has been a vital piece of the Cougars success, helping lead the team to it's current 23-0 season and No. 2 rank in Class 2A. The Cougars will look to Austin for leadership during this Saturday's sub state final game against Mount Vernon.

February 14, 2013 - Josh Gill, Alex Duster, James Daughters and Justin Yuan

Dubuque Senior 200 freestyle relay team
The Senior 200 Free Relay team of Josh Gill, Alex Duster, James Daughters, and Justin Yuan won the state title in a state record time of 1:23.99. They became the first team in Iowa to ever break the 1:24 mark and broke the 7 year old state record by nearly .6 seconds, a huge amount of time in this race. The team earned automatic All-American honors with a time that currently ranks second in the country. This swim and the leadership of these seniors helped to spark Senior to a runner-up team finish at the state swim meet.

February 7, 2013 - Kirby Kendrick

Kirby Kendrick earned his 100th career wrestling win while claiming an Iowa Class 2A sectional championship on Saturday. A standout football player at Beckman, he will continue his gridiron career at Upper Iowa University, an NCAA Division II school, next fall.

Chase won the 106 pound championship at the 24 team Bob Lueders wrestling tournament in Clinton on Jan 19. He had a fall, and 2 major decisions with a 9-0 victory over 7th ranked Connor Cleveland of New Hampton in the finals. He gave up one point on the day. and is currently ranked 2nd at 106 in class 3A.

January 24, 2013 - Blaire Lutes

Blaire scored her 1,000th career basketball point.  She became just the third player in Shullsburg school history and the fifth in Benton school history to reach this goal.  Blaire is also a 4.0 student.

January 17, 2013 - Emma Droeszler

Southwestern
Emma is averaging a near double-double each game.  After two ACL surgeries, Emma is averaging 11.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.  Last week, Emma scored a career high 23 points.

Josh recorded two impressive double doubles in the week.  He had  15 points and 17 rebounds against Cuba City, and 27 points and 14 rebounds in the win over East Dubuque.

January 3, 2013 - Andrew Sanders

Andrew led the Mustang bowling team in their season high score of 3440 against CR Kennedy.  Andrew bowled bowled this year's first 300 in the state for High School bowling, followed with a 259 for a state high 2-game series of 559.

December 27, 2012 - Dawson Nemmers

Nemmers, who carries a 4.0 grade-point average, recently became a member of the Western Dubuque 100-win club. The senior 152-pound wrestler also has a near-perfect record so far this season at 21-1.

Ashley led the team with 19 points on Tuesday against Wahlert and contributed another 9 points on Friday in the win over 10th ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie.

December 13, 2012 - Riley Till

Bellevue
Riley is a junior on the Bellevue Comets boys bowling team.  He has the sixth highest game average (234.5) and the sixth highest series average (469.0) in the state of Iowa.

Jake led Hempstead with 21 points and 14 rebounds Tuesday in the game against Pleasant Valley.

November 15, 2012 - Tim Fritz

Down by four points with just 90 seconds remaining, the veteran quarterback hit junior Chase Kruser in stride for a thrilling 52-yard go-ahead score, giving Potosi its first lead of its WIAA state football semifinal on Friday.  The Chieftains went on to add one last score on a 40-yard Fritz breakaway run to seal their first-ever trip to the state championship game with a 30-20 victory. Fritz finished the game with 199 yards on 9 of 18 passing attempts.

November 8, 2012 - Jase Udelhofen

Potosi
Jase finished with 193 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries to lead the Potosi football team to a 48-28 victory over Cochrane-Fountain City in a WIAA Division 7 Level 3 playoff game. The Chieftains will face Randolph next weekend for the right to play for the state championship in Camp Randall Stadium.

November 1, 2012 - 200 Freestyle Relay Team

200 freestyle relay team (Molly Lembezeder; Autumn Roepsch; Olivia Knowles; and Jenna Willer) broke the MVC conference record, School Record with a 1:40.54 at the MVC Conference meet.  They followed up at the Regional meet in Cedar Falls on Saturday by breaking their own school record again and the Cedar Falls Pool record with a 1:38.57.

Jonah recorded 22 tackles (5 solo, 4 for loss and 3 sacks) last week against Orangeville.  For the season, he has a remarkable 202 total tackles from the middle linebacker position.

Dylan won the Mississippi Valley Conference cross country meet and was awarded the Athlete of the Year by MVC (Dylan won the City meet in Dubuque, won the Rich Engel Classic and finished 2nd in the Mississippi Valley Super Meet).

October 11, 2012 - Austin Clemens and Keegan Gallery

Austin Clemens completed 16 of 21 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns in Senior's 40-20 win over Dubuque Hempstead.   Keegan Gallery caught nine of those passes for 136 yards (15.1 yards per catch) and two touchdowns. For the year, Clemens is 94-for-144 for 1105 yards and 10 touchdowns against only one interception. Gallery has 47 catches for 575 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The Dubuque Senior defense held one of the conference best offenses (Iowa City High) to 0 points.  The Rams snatched 6 turnovers from the Little Hawks. 

September 27, 2012 - Emily Schroeder

Emily played a huge role in the Golden Eagles' win over city rival Hempstead last week.  Schroeder won the 200-yard individual medley, the 100 butterfly, and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.

September 20, 2012 - Timmie Kleitsch

In 4 games, Kleitsch has already thrown for 11 touchdowns, compared to 14 all of last season.  Last week, Kleitsch threw for four touchdowns in last week's 40-13 win over Northeast Goose Lake.

Alex had 21 carries for 90 yards in Senior's come-from-behind victory over Wahlert.  His 31-yard TD in the 4th quarter put Senior ahead for the first time in the game.  Alex also caught two passes for 51 yards.

Streat picked up a fumble and intercepted a Linn-Mar pass in the third overtime to set up the game-winning field goal last Thursday. Hoerner also has 28 tackles in two games this season.

Autumn broke her own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday at the Ram Relays. Autumn, a three-year state qualifier, continues to turn in impressive times.

Dylan went 8 for 19, 9 RBI's, 2 home runs this week.  He broke the schools single season home run record.  Dylan is 3 RBI's away from owning the single season RBI record at Dubuque Senior.

Ian picked up six hits in seven at bats as the Trailblazers moved their winning streak to 14 games with a sweep at Manchester.  The sweep gave Dyersville Beckman the WaMac Eastern Division Championship for the first time in school history.

Connor went 10-23 for an average of .435 during the week.  He had 3 HR's, 7 runs scored, 7 RBI's and 2 stolen bases.  He helped the Rams go 4-2 on the week.

The senior right fielder went 13 for 18 in leading the Bobcats to a 5-0 record during the week.  The Bobcats extended their winning streak to six games to improve to 14-7.

June 14, 2012 - Josh Smith

Josh won the Division 3 state high school golf championship in Madison.  He birdied his finishing hole for the one stroke victory.   Last year, he was runner-up at the state meet.

June 7, 2012 - Adam Lange

Adam finished 10th at the 2A State Track meet in the 800 meters.  He ran a season best time of 1:56.97, running under two minutes 8 times during the season.

May 31, 2012 - Kristi Bartels

Potosi
Kristi threw the school's first ever perfect game in the first round of the regionals against Benton/Shullsburg.  Kristi hit a triple in the game and was the winning run to come across the plate.  She also struck out 8 on the night.

May 24, 2012 - Jasmine Staebler

Jetting a 55.9-second closing leg, Staebler anchored the Eagles' sprint medley relay to a state record performance of 1:49.17 on Championship Saturday at Drake Stadium. Staebler finished second in the 800, missing first by .12 of a second.

The Mustangs' junior was named the Mississippi Valley Conference tennis player of the year in the Valley Division. She plays at No. 1 for Hempstead. It is the first time in several, several years that a Hempstead player has been named conference player of the year in tennis.

May 10, 2012 - Adam Morgan

Adam Morgan is a sophomore on the Hempstead swim team. He is legally blind, and last weekend he participated in a swim meet for Team IOWA in the North Central Association of schools for the blind (NCASB) and did really well. He earned golds in the 200IM, 100Fly, and 500 Free. He also swam a leg on a record breaking 200 free relay.

Mitch Langkamp, Junior Catcher for the Potosi Baseball Team had an incredible night at the plate in Thursday night's Conference Doubleheader against previously unbeaten Barneveld. Mitch went 7 for 9 at the plate with 3 singles, 2 doubles, 1 triple and a home run and 11 RBI's. Potosi is now 9-0.

The Cassville High School pitcher struck out 14 hitters while firing a no-hitter in Game 1 of the Comets 3-0, 6-4 sweep of Black Hawk in Cassville, Wis.

Nolan scored the game-winning goal against Decorah High School in overtime.  Nolan scored a quick goal within the first two minutes of the overtime for the win.

Emily has led the East Dubuque Girls' Basketball Team to a 19-4 record and their first Regional title and Sectional birth in 23 years. Emily just completed a week that included a Regional tournament in which she led her team to beat perennial powers Stockton, on their home court, and last season's State Finals Runner-Up River Ridge/Scales Mound by leading her team in scoring and hitting multiple high pressure shots down the stretch.

February 9, 2012 - Peyton River

Peyton set the school record for 3pt shooting on Thursday against Benton, hitting 9-10 and scoring 29 points. He followed that up on Friday, 2/3 against Solon, hitting 8 3pt shots. Maquoketa is currently tied for the lead in the WaMac East, having won 13 of their last 14 games.
